1. You may come across a 1999 Dodge Neon with a 2.0L that is setting a code P0442 for a small EVAP leak.
Inspect the fuel tank filler tube for any signs of heavy corrosion. These filler tubes have a safety plate welded to them for protection from down-the-road tire/rim damage. This design sets up a moisture trap and causes premature failure of the tube. An EVAP smoke machine was used to find a 0.20in leak in the tube.
2. You may come across a vehicle with a green tire stem cap during routine service on any vehicle.
Prior to performing any tire service to this vehicle you made need to speak to the owner of the vehicle to see if these tires were not inflated with nitrogen gas. You don’t want to contaminate a possible pure nitrogen filled tire with shop air and have an irritated customer looking for a partial refund.
